Training Concept |
Within the wide range of training courses
focusing on different subject matter issues, basically ACTION LEARNING FOR
DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION follows 3 types of training concepts:
Standardized courses
without follow up, conducted as a package with a training programme scheduled
for a set period of time (e.g. 1 week, 10 days) which might be on the
agenda several times within one year.
Customized courses
with or without follow-up developed for the particular
training needs of a certain community, institution, organization or Ministry
but also scheduled for a set period of time (e.g. 1 week
or 10 days).Customized
courses as modular training developed for the particular training needs of a
certain community, institution, organization or Ministry, but conducted over a period of several
months possibly 1 or 2 years.
Like in all modular trainings, it is
intentional that the modules successive build on each other providing a
comprehensive capacity building on the respective subjects. In the case of
the CTP program which consists of 5 modules, each 1-week, over the period 1
year, the last module covers ToT to enable the trainees to conduct own
training and rise awareness on the course subjects (see above Training Content
and Achievement).
In
customized courses, based on the proposal by the client ACTION LEARNING FOR
DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION each time makes own assessment and develops a
training course and concept tailored to the particular needs of the target
group. This assures focusing on the specific issue, the location, knowledge of
people, skills and attitudes required for the work and
the gaps that exist, and makes it easier for the trainer to
attract more people, easier for trainer and trainee to agree on the aims of
training, methods of training and assessment.
|
|
Strengths
of Training
|
Flexibility of training in regard to local means
and knowledge;
Trainers
committed and dedicated to the issue, show high involvement, build-up good
relationship with trainees;
Support
in planning to use training skills after training;
Trainees
enabled to build-up network;
Coaching
of trainees after formal part of training course(s);
Trainers
train in pairs, loosing one does not jeopardize the training, replaceable;
Trainees
get public acknowledgement through more possibilities after training to
exposure and practice of learned skills;
Trainers leave to other (higher paid) jobs.
|
|
Weaknesses of Training
|
Trainers
difficult to recruit, job requires flexibility (working hours, location),
sometimes coincides with family obligations;
Incentives
to low: only lunch and transport money for meetings, housing in village should
be provided;
Continuation
of training work depends on individuals motivation and leadership character
(networking and group meetings are supportive);
Government trainees sometimes not dedicated to
the issue.
